Pre-Company Dance
This is our preparation program that teaches the skills and techniques needed to be successful future Company dancers. These dancers are selected by our instructors through our spring session as they participate in recreational classes or by audition. Recommendations are made based on talent, dedication, listening skills and a love for the art of dance. They are asked to do a trial audition class in late May to ensure that they will be a good fit for the program. Dancers are evaluated on their skills, current technique level, listening skills and attitude. They are then placed in groups accordingly. Placements of dancers are dependent upon the ability, desire and age of the dancer.
Pre-Company Auditions are May 20th, 2024 with a parent meeting at the same time from 5:30-6:45PM at North Crest in Studio A.
Pre-Company is made up of dancers aged 6-11 yrs. Pre-Company is a year-round program that prepares dancers to grow and develop skills in the dance world and life lessons! These classes will also guide them into our Competitive Company at North Crest!
Pre-Company participates in performances and practices similar to Company dancers, however, Pre-Company does not attend competitions. Pre-Company groups are Broadway Babies, who practice for 1.5 hours once a week, and Showstoppers, who practice for 1.5 hours twice a week. Pre-company dancers will have core class time weekly which consists of ballet, tap, lyrical and hip-hop.
Both groups will be invited to participate in summer parades, summer dance camp (early June), summer intensives, and the Company Ballet. They will perform in the Winter and Spring Performances as well as school dance shows for North Crest. Upon receiving your commitment to this class, dancers will receive an order form for a uniform and warm-up (this is separate from other expenses and as stated above is usually around $150) that they will use for the above practices/rehearsals and performances. Dancers will also be expected to order the appropriate and required shoes for their classes, show shirts, and required make-up.
